About Omiage

"Omiage" is a monthly subscription service that delivers an original assortment of souvenirs only found in Japan along with tourist information.
Buyers will receive an assortment of confectionary based on the theme of a prefecture each month.
Since different souvenirs from a different travel destination arrive each month, you can enjoy the excitement of traveling all over Japan from the comfort of your own home.

"Omiage" translates to "souvenir" in English.
We want everyone to enjoy the pleasure of opening the box as if they had received an "Omiage (souvenir)" from Japan.

That's a great question!
Other Japanese souvenir subscription services use mass-produced, mainstream treats that are easily available in most Asian markets outside of Japan.
Omiage is proud to offer local Japanese confections. (some of which have been around for over 200 years!)
Omiage selects only the best quality and gourmet snacks, never inferior products.
We are also the only service that carefully selects a tea pairing for each box to complement the flavor of the month.

Inside the box: more than 20 items of exclusive Japanese sweets and a tea packet selected according to the theme.
The assortment includes snacks, candies, chocolates, rice cakes, and other sweets, all of which are unique and can only be found in Japan.
In addition, a 24+ page culture guide is included in the box, which provides information on how to enjoy the items, tourist information on the specific prefectures, interviews with confectioners, and much more.

The nutritional composition of each of the snacks inside varies, we cannot guarantee that all of the snacks in a given month will be gluten-free or halal.
We follow the Merriam-Webster's definition of vegetarian as a "meat-free diet - a diet consisting solely of vegetables, fruits, grains, nuts, and sometimes eggs and dairy products."
Please check the nutritional information for each snack before purchasing.

First-time Omiage customers will receive a "First Box" containing an assortment of carefully selected souvenirs from all over Japan.

We do our best to protect the boxes from being damaged, but sometimes postal carriers can be rough.
In the unfortunate event that a box or the snacks inside are damaged, please contact us at hi@travellike.co.jp with a photo of the damaged area.
If the damage is deemed significant, we will be happy to send a replacement box.
As for the damaged items, please dispose of them at your discretion.

Thank you for your interest in our past assortment boxes.
Unfortunately, due to limited inventory, we do not sell previous boxes.
The special combination will be available only for that month, so please don't miss the opportunity to get it.
In the future, we will be taking surveys from our regular subscribers and will consider bringing back the most popular assortment of items.

We translate the common allergens listed on the package of the confections.
The FDA lists eight common allergens.
(Milk, eggs, fish, crustaceans, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, and soy)
In addition, vegetarian snacks and those that contain alcohol as an ingredient are clearly marked.
First-time buyers can find the ingredient information for each item on the "First Box" page.
Existing members can find this information on the "Upcoming Boxes" page of their account portal or in the booklet that is included with each box shipment.

We would never sell expired products.
Rest assured that we ship with the number of days until arrival in mind.
In Japan, the expiration date is listed in the format of year/month/day, so please do not panic and make sure you have not misread it.
In the unlikely case that you have purchased an expired item, please send a photo of it along with the expiration date to hi@travellike.co.jp within two weeks of its arrival.
If it is clearly past the expiration date, we will send you a new box.

The size of the Omiage box is 19X19X9 cm.

We are very sorry for any inconvenience caused.
We inspect our boxes thoroughly before shipping, but in the unlikely case that any items in the box are damaged (melted, defective, etc.), please take a picture and email it to hi@travellike.co.jp within 2 weeks of its arrival.
If the box or any items are found to be obviously defective, we will ship a new one right away.

*Caution*
As temperature rises, it becomes more difficult to guarantee that chocolates will arrive in good condition.
If the temperature in your area is above 23°C (73°F), the chocolates may arrive slightly out of shape.
Temperatures above 28°C (82°F) may cause the product to melt during transport.
Please note that we are not responsible for damage caused by temperatures during shipping.

First-time customers will receive a "First Box" containing a carefully selected assortment of exclusive confections from all over Japan.
From the following month, you will receive a booklet with a different theme for each prefecture and tourist information.

Skipping all future shipments shown on this page is not the same as unsubscribing, and your subscription will be renewed on the next scheduled ship date. If you wish to cancel your subscription, please see "How to Unsubscribe."

Note: It may take a few minutes for updated changes to be reflected in your account.

Cancellation of a subscription must be completed by the day before the renewal date.
For example, if your renewal date is on the 25th of each month, the 24th would be the last day, and if you cancel by then, you will not be billed for the following month.
Canceling a subscription only prevents future renewals and does not cancel existing orders.
Please note that if you cancel your subscription after it has been renewed, the month after the renewal will be the last month that you will receive a shipment.

In general all subscriptions purchased on Omiage are non-refundable and non-returnable.
If you do not wish to be billed for the following month, you must cancel your subscription prior to the renewal date.
Please keep in mind that refunds cannot be processed after renewal.

If your box has not arrived 4 weeks after the shipment date, please contact us at hi@travellike.co.jp.
Lost or damaged orders will only be accepted if we are notified within 2 weeks of arrival or the delivery date.
In the unlikely case that you encounter any other issues, please feel free to contact us at hi@travellike.co.jp anytime.

Currently, all orders are processed in USD.
The amount billed in your local currency is determined by the exchange rate between the USD and your local currency at the time of purchase.
Therefore, the amount shown on your bank statement may vary from the estimated amount shown.

Regarding the processing of shipments from other countries: each country sets its own laws and regulations for shipments.
Customers are responsible for any customs fees or taxes that may be incurred.
Omiage is not liable for any customs fees or taxes charged by the customer's country at the time of delivery.
Custom taxes are imposed by the customer's local government, and if charged, Omiage is not responsible for them.

About Shipping

As of August 18, 2022, we currently ship to the following countries:

People's Republic of China, United States of America, Republic of Korea, Philippines, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Australia, Thailand, United Kingdom, Singapore, Ireland, Algeria, Argentina, Israel, Italy, Iraq, Iran, Indonesia, Uganda, Ukraine, Egypt, Ethiopia, Oman, the Netherlands, Ghana, Qatar, Gabon, Cyprus, Greece, Kuwait, Cook, Kenya, Ivory Coast, Colombia, Saudi Arabia, San Marino, Djibouti, Switzerland, Sudan, Spain, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Tunisia, Togo, Turkey, Nigeria New Caledonia, New Zealand, Nepal, Pakistan, Panama, Bangladesh, Bhutan, France, Vietnam, Belgium, Macau, Madagascar, Malta, Malaysia, South Africa, Mexico, Mauritius, Maldives, Morocco, Mongolia, Jordan Liechtenstein, and Lebanon.

Our products are shipped directly from Japan via EMS (international shipping).
Due to the unpredictable nature of international shipping, we cannot guarantee that items will arrive by a specific date.
Generally, it takes one to two weeks from the ship date, but due to delays at local customs and post offices, it may take up to four weeks.

If your product has not arrived after 6 weeks from the ship date, please feel free to contact us at hi@travellike.co.jp.
We will gladly provide store credit, a replacement order, or refund.

For subscription purchases, shipping is a flat rate of $20.
Currently, due to Covid-19, international shipping costs have increased drastically.
Be aware that shipping fees are subject to change depending on the situation.

Please check your country's import regulations as we are not responsible for any custom taxes incurred upon delivery of your package.

Single item purchases will vary depending on the total weight of the items ordered and the shipping method.
The weight of your order will be automatically calculated when you add items to your cart, so please check the shipping fee at the time of payment.

Note: If you have a box subscription and order a market item together, in most instances they will be shipped together according to the shipping method you have selected for that order. However, future renewals of box subscriptions will be shipped using our standard method for your country.

Your first box will be shipped within one week of placing your order.
Future shipments will be made every other month based on the date of your order.
You will receive a tracking number and shipping notification after shipment so you can always check the status of your order.

We are currently experiencing significant delays in international shipments as a result of Covid-19.
Under normal conditions, your order should arrive within 1-2 weeks from the date of shipment, but due to potential delays caused by customs and weather conditions, it may take up to 4 weeks.

Please allow at least 4 weeks for lost or stolen items, as weather, postal, or custom issues may cause delays.
If you receive a letter or message from the post office regarding a damaged or lost package, please email us with a photo of the letter or message so we can send you a replacement immediately.
Final delivery of boxes shipped by Japan Post is made by the post office in your local area. (For example, in the U.S., USPS would make the final delivery.)

We sincerely apologize, for it is difficult to ensure delivery on a particular date.
Due to the unpredictability of international shipping directly from Japan, we cannot guarantee that your order will arrive by a specific date.

If your item has not arrived after 4 weeks from the shipment confirmation email, please feel free to contact us at hi@travellike.co.jp at any time.

We make every effort to ensure that you receive your package as soon as possible, but unfortunately we cannot control the delays that may occur during transit.

All packages are subject to customs inspection.
They will inspect your package upon arrival at its destination.
We have no control over when customs will clear your package.
Please check the tracking information and confirm the shipment status at your own convenience.

It is common for there to be a time lag between when a package is marked "delivered" and when it actually arrives.
Even if the package is marked as delivered, it may not arrive until 3-4 days later, or in the worst case, until a week later.

If you do not receive your item within one week after delivery is complete, please first inquire at your local post office.
